Sister Mary Jean Meier was a dynamic force in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, working for nearly 40 years in the areas of Catholic education and fundraising for schools and other needs within the diocese. Those who knew her say she “taught them everything” and “wrote the book” on fundraising to support the diverse network of Catholic schools and the thousands of students and families they serve. The primary focus in her work and her daily life was the “attitude of gratitude,” which shone through in her selfless personality and constant engagement with donors—something we strive for in our own work here at CCF-LA.
Our Sister Mary Jean Meier Fund was lovingly established by a member of the Order of St. Gregory to forever memorialize her work and most especially her passion and dedication to the mission of the House of Prayer for Priests. This resource provides a physical and spiritual space for priests to grow and renew their faith and focus through education, fellowship, and more.
The Sister Mary Jean Meier Fund is a permanently endowed fund that has been designated to support the greatest needs of HOPP. Annual grant amounts are determined by the Board of Directors and are typically 5% of the fund’s value.
Sister returned to the Lord in 2010. This fund will forever serve as a remembrance of her many accomplishments and will continue to support the House of Prayer for Priests in her honor.
